The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) and the Australian Consulate General in Makassar initiated a meeting and lunch between Dr. Alex Stephens (Consul General of Australia) with FISIP UNHAS, which was attended by Prof. Dr. Phil. Sukri, M.Si (Dean), Prof. Darwis, MA (Head of Department of International Relations) and Andi Ahmad Yani, M.Sc, MPA, M.Sc (Coordinator of International Cooperation at FISIP UNHAS at the Unhas Hotel and Convention on 5 July 2023. This meeting was also attended by Lulu A. Purnamasari (Research and Public Affairs Manager of the Australian Consul General in Makassar).

This meeting aimed to strengthen the cooperation between UNHAS and the Australian Consul General in Makassar by introducing Dr. Stephens as the newly assigned Consul in Makassar. During the meeting, various plans for collaboration between FISIP UNHAS and several campuses in Australia were discussed. In particular, the double degree program for the Department of International Relations, FISIP, UNHAS undergraduate program with the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, the University of Queensland. Likewise, with the double Master of Public Administration Program at UNHAS with the University of Melbourne (UniMelb). As a senior diplomat, Dr. Stephens also planned to become a guest lecturer on the faculty, especially in the international department of the Department of International Relations. In addition, various collaboration opportunities were also discussed to encourage research collaboration with universities in Australia through multiple scenarios of research funding support schemes. This meeting was held over lunch and closed with a group photo.
