To follow up on the findings regarding the optimization of the international corners, the Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) Secretary, Prof. Sumbangan Baja, and the representatives of International Office (IO), Andi Masyitha Irwan, Ph.D., and Muhammad Ridwan, M.A. visited the international corners in UNHAS on Friday, April 14, 2023. One Corner was located in UNHAS Library and one in the Language Service. This visit was also joined by the Head of UNHAS Library, Dr. Fierinziana.
The first visit was to German Corner, and the coordinator, Prof. Marianti Manggau, had already been at the Corner welcoming the visitation group. In her explanation, Prof. Marianti described what this Corner had done so far, for example, providing a free German Class for UNHAS students. The second visit was to Korean Corner. In this Corner, the coordinator, Muhammad Syahrum, M.A., welcomed the guests by showing the facilities inside the Corner, such as the multimedia room and reading room, that students may use to study more about Korea.
Next, the visit to Warung Perancis (France Corner). During the visit, Prof. Sumbangan discussed with several students coming to the Corner. The next visit was to China Corner, located on the library’s third floor. The coordinator, Ria Djubari, Ph.D., and several Chinese lecturers from Nanchang University welcomed the visitation group. In this room, the guests saw the Chinese class attended by UNHAS students.
The last visit was to Aussie Banget Corner, located in the library and the Language Service Building. Dr. Herawaty Abbas, the coordinator, welcomed the guests and explained the corners. Prof. Sumbangan Baja took a chance to come inside the administration office of Language Service and gave his good impression. During the corner visit, Prof. Sumbangan Baja reminded the coordinators to prepare for the next meeting to discuss International Corners’ plans. Andi Masyitha Irwan, Ph.D., also suggested that these corners have to contribute to the UNHAS internationalization program, such as the World University Ranking (WUR).
