The Rector of Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) received a working visit from The University of Rhode Island (URI) as well as giving a public lecture presented by the President of URI Prof. Marc B. Parlange on the topic: “Blue Economic Development through International University Partnerships”. The activity took place at Lecture Theater Prof. Dr. Latanro, Tamalanrea Campus, on Thursday, January 19th 2023. During the meeting, UNHAS and URI also signed the extension of the cooperation agreement.
URI delegation led by Prof. Marc B. Cross, the President of the URI, included the Vice Provost of Global Initiative; Kristin Johnson, Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy ; Paul Larrat, Associate Dean of Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering ; Vinka Oyanedel, Dean of College of Environment and Life Sciences ; John Kirby, Director of Partnership – Asia ; Brook Ross, and Partnership Manager ; Elvira Nataliya.
In his remarks, the Rector of UNHAS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., was delighted with the revisit of URI. URI and UNHAS established many collaborations through strategic programs presenting students with the best educational facilities to provide international experience and broaden knowledge and scientific insights. Through the presentation of his material, the President of URI, Prof. Marc B. Parlange, explained how URI expanded its partnership in Indonesia for 50 years. Various educational and research programs have been undertaken in the development and use of renewable marine resources.
