A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Department of Archaeology, Griffith University (GU), and the Department of Archaeology, UNHAS, was officially signed on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB). Prof. Adam Brumm and David Paul Mc.Gahan represented GU. From the FIB, besides the Dean, Prof. Akin Duli, M.A., other parties that also attended, namely the Head of FIB Archaeology Study Program, Dr. Rosmawati, M.Hum., Dr.Supriadi, M.A., Dr. Muh Nur, M.A., Dr. Yadi Mulyadi, M.A., and Dr. Khadijah Thahir, M.Hum and staff from the department. Other parties who attended were from Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN) or National Research and Innovation Agency of Makassar, Drs. Budianto Hakim (he is a Practitioner lecturer from Archaeology), and Basran Burhan, S.S.

The Dean of FIB, Prof. Akin Duli, M.A., stated that the two institutions would cooperate in education, research, and community service combined. Implementing the programs would be held in Leang Leang and Paningnge, Maros Regency, which would last two months, involving lecturers from the Department of Archeology, UNHAS, and undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Australian team consists of three lecturers, and later, masters students would join the team as well.
