International Office (IO) of Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) and Arizona State University (ASU), under the scheme Higher Education Partnership Initiative (HEPI) collaboration program, conducted workshops for students with “Academic Skills For Indonesian Students” & “USAID Study Abroad Seminar” as the topics. Around 70 students attended the workshop from every faculty in Hasanuddin University.
The workshop was held in Inspiring Room of UNHAS Hotel and Convention on Friday,
January 20th 2023. Two expert speakers deliver different topics. Firstly, Dr. Robert Schoenfeld from ASU discussed the necessary skills in teamwork. Students were also taught to analyze their strengths and weaknesses to create self-awareness so that they can complete each other when working collectively.
Moreover, Dr. Robert also simulated some problem-solving methods for increasing their critical thinking and ability to analyze some cases. Therefore, all students had an opportunity to explore themselves in a working group. The second speaker, Fina Alatas, talked about the opportunity and possibility of studying in the United States (US). She gave some tips and tricks in selecting the destination campuses/universities.
Furthermore, she promoted the United States-Indonesia Society (USINDO) as a non-government
organization that can help Indonesian students find their potential universities.
Since its establishment in 1994, USINDO has connected Indonesian students with US universities. She also said that Indonesia has always been a strong partner of the US in the educational field. Thus, USINDO would always be exclusively devoted to deepening United States-Indonesia relations and mutual understanding.
