As part of the strategic efforts to increase student knowledge, the International Office of Hasanuddin University, in collaboration with USAID and Arizona State University (ASU), through the HEPI Program, held a workshop entitled “Workshop on Critical Thinking as a 21st Century Skill” and “Preparation and Expectation of Studying in the United States”. The activity took place starting at 07.30 WITA in the Inspiring Room, 2nd Floor, Unhas Hotel and Convention Center, Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, on Thursday (27/10). The event featured two speakers, Dr. Bob Schoenfeld (Arizona State University) and Fina Alatas (The US-Indonesia Society).
The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Partnership, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Business (Prof. Dr. Eng. Adi Maulana, ST., M.Phil). In his remarks, Prof. Adi expressed his gratitude to the speakers for attending this today’s activity. Unhas continues to optimize the quality of student learning through partnerships, one of which is Unhas’ involvement in the HEPI program to improve the quality of higher education institutions in various sectors. The HEPI Project is a sustainable partnership program between the United States, Indonesian higher education institutions, and the private sector in an effort to improve the skills and competencies of internationally recognized students.
The event then continued with the presentation of the speakers’ material. Dr. Bob Schoenfeld, as one of the speakers, explained his material related to “Academic Success Skill: Critical Thinking as a 21st Century Skill.” This presentation generally provides an overview of critical thinking skills that must be possessed by students to the benefits of critical thinking.
The entire series of material presentations went smoothly. The number of participants was approximately 80 students, who were representatives of each faculty. They actively asked questions to the two speakers.
