Indonesian Education Attaché for Australia, Prof. Dr. Mukhamad Najib, S.TP., MM visited Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) in order to examine a doctoral dissertation in the field of agricultural sciences, Thursday, 9 February 2023. On the sidelines of examining the dissertation, the Education Attaché met the Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. . Jamaluddin Jompa, better known as Prof. JJ.
In this meeting, Prof JJ and Prof Najib discussed the preparation for Sulawesi Day which will be held in Australia. and the possibility of involving other stakeholders such as the South Sulawesi Provincial Government or the City of Makassar. In principle, the Indonesian Embassy in Australia is very supportive and ready to assist in carrying out this activity. Several plans for cooperation between UNHAS and the Indonesian Embassy in Australia were also discussed further, especially the issue of sending Indonesian language teachers to schools in Australia to teach Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing (BIPA) or Indonesian for Foreign Speakers.
Given the strategic role of UNHAS which has a long history of collaboration with educational institutions in Australia, the Education Attache really hopes for full support from UNHAS in every event or collaboration program, not only in the education sector but also in other fields. Prof. JJ really appreciated the visit from the Attaché and was very pleased with the efforts of the Education Attache in the form of collaboration involving UNHAS in relation to building relations with Australia.
This meeting was also a return visit from the Indonesian Education Attaché in Australia to a visit from UNHAS represented by the Vice-Rector for Partnership, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Business, Prof. Adi Maulana and his team in mid-December in Canberra. The meeting was closed with lunch together in the 8th Floor UNHAS Rectorate lounge.
