STUVO Batch IV: Nurturing the Spirit of Young Global Volunteers at UNHAS

The International Office (IO) of Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) once again held the Student Volunteer (STUVO) Training Batch IV on Saturday, 8 November 2025. This annual program is designed to strengthen the capacity, leadership, and global mindset of UNHAS students serving as international volunteers.

The one-day training was officially opened by Khaeruddin, Ph.D., representing the IO task force of UNHAS. In his opening remarks, he emphasized that being an international volunteer is not merely about assisting in activities, but also about cultivating empathy, intercultural communication, and social responsibility. He also encouraged UNHAS students to become ambassadors who represent the university’s positive image on the global stage.

The training provided an engaging and inspiring learning atmosphere. Selected participants took part in a series of interactive sessions, including How to Be an Effective Volunteer delivered by Nirma Hasyim, S.IP., M.A., Introduction to South Sulawesi Tourism Objects by the Provincial Tourism Office of South Sulawesi, Public Speaking by Dr. Eddyman W. Ferial, M.Si., and Hospitality Management presented by Yovie from the UNHAS Hospitality Center (UHC).

After the lunch break, participants continued with Fundamentals of Journalism led by Nurul Hidayah, S.I.Kom., followed by an inspiring Sharing Session with Muhammad Aflahal Mukmin, a representative from STUVO Batch III, who shared his valuable experiences as a former volunteer.

In his statement, Dr. Khaeruddin reaffirmed that STUVO serves as a strategic platform to prepare students for global challenges. “We envision UNHAS students not merely as participants in international programs, but as active changemakers and outstanding representatives of Indonesia to the world,” he remarked.

One of the highlights of the day was the sharing session with STUVO alumni, which offered participants firsthand insights into how volunteering experiences can bring positive impacts to the university, the community, and even international relations.
