Navigating AI Disruption: FISIP UNHAS and Universiti Brunei Darussalam Explore the Future of Digital Governance
The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the university’s internationalization agenda by hosting an international guest lecture at the start of the 2025/2026 Even Semester on Monday, 23 February 2026. This initiative, organized by the Department of Administrative Science and the Policy & Governance (POLiGOV) Laboratory, featured Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Anshari Bin Ali, Director of the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), as the keynote speaker. The session was moderated by Sri Nurindah Sari Arsyad, a Research Assistant at the POLiGOV Laboratory.

The lecture, titled “Managing Disruptive Innovation in Artificial Intelligence for Digital Governance,” is part of FISIP UNHAS’s efforts to strengthen academic networks with reputable higher education partners across Southeast Asia. The event was attended by the Head of the Department of Administrative Science, Prof. Dr. Awli; the Head of the Master of Public Administration Program, Prof. Dr. Gita Susanti; faculty members; and both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The active participation of the academic community reflected high enthusiasm for global issues surrounding digital governance.
During his presentation, Prof. Anshari discussed the dynamics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) disruption and its implications for public policy and digital government governance. He emphasized the vital importance of transforming knowledge management and strengthening human resource capacity to face global technological shifts. The material provided an international perspective highly relevant to the development of curriculum and research within the field of public administration.
This event serves not only as an academic forum but also as a foundational step toward developing deeper collaboration between FISIP UNHAS and the Institute of Policy Studies at UBD. Moving forward, the partnership is expected to expand into joint research, international publications, faculty and student exchanges, and the strengthening of regional networks.
