International Seminar on Healthy Aging: UNHAS Nursing Faculty Strengthens Collaboration with Japan

The Faculty of Nursing (FKep) Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), proudly held an International Seminar in collaboration with the Japan Medical Nursing Association (JAMNA) and supported by the Kaikoukai Healthcare Corporation, Japan, on Saturday, 6 December 2025, at the LPPM Hall, UNHAS. This program was part of an international academic initiative aimed at strengthening knowledge exchange and advancing multidisciplinary practices in healthcare. Carrying the theme “Promoting Healthy Aging Through Evidence-Based Rehabilitation and Multidisciplinary Care,” the seminar provided a platform for sharing current insights and best practices related to elderly health management.

The event was attended by the Dean of FKep UNHAS, Prof. Dr. Elly Lilianty Sjattar, S.Kp., M.Kes, accompanied by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Syahrul, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes., Ph.D; the Vice Dean for Partnership, Research, and Innovation, Dr. Takdir Tahir, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes; and the Head of the International Office UNHAS, Andi Mayitha Irwan, S.Kep., Ns., MAN, Ph.D, along with physiotherapy lecturers and other academic staff.

The seminar featured distinguished speakers who shared their expertise in rehabilitation and geriatric care. Among the presenters were Kumazawa Kazuhide and Moriyama Yoshifumi (Japan Medical Nursing Association); Hiroki Yabe, RPT., Ph.D and Iida Taeko, OTR, MS (Seirei Christopher University), both adjunct and visiting lecturers at the FKep UNHAS; as well as Riskah Nur Amalia, S.Ft., Physio., M.Biomed., Ph.D from the FKep UNHAS.

Throughout the seminar, around 120 participants gained valuable knowledge on evidence-based rehabilitation, multidisciplinary approaches in elderly care, and innovations in promoting healthy aging. This program also served as an important opportunity to strengthen academic collaboration between UNHAS and partner institutions in Japan.

It is expected that the insights obtained from this seminar will enable participants to implement improved practices and contribute positively to enhancing the quality of healthcare services, particularly in supporting the well-being of the elderly population.
