From Japan to Italy: A Cross-Continental Visit to Hasanuddin University’s Marine Microbiology Lab

On Tuesday, 28 October 2025, the Marine Microbiology Laboratory welcomed an international visit from Professor Takahiro Osawa of Yamaguchi University, Japan, accompanied by Stefano Vignudelli, a science enthusiast and researcher from Pisa, Italy. The visit highlighted the growing interest of global scientists in exploring the unique marine biodiversity and microbial ecosystems found in Indonesian waters. During their time at the laboratory, the visitors observed ongoing research activities and discussed various approaches to marine microbiology and environmental monitoring.

The delegation was warmly received and accompanied by Prof. Dr. Mukti Zainuddin, M.Si., and Dr. rer. nat. Elmi Nurhaidah Zainuddin, DES., who facilitated the discussion and exchange of ideas. This visit not only strengthened scientific relations between Hasanuddin University and its international partners but also opened opportunities for future joint research projects, knowledge sharing, and academic collaboration in marine science and biotechnology.
