On Thursday, 6 April 2023, Faculty of Nursing (FKep) leaders received a visit from the International Organization for Migration-United Nations (IOM-UN) in the FKep Senate Room. The IOM-UN team consisted of Andri Yuan, S.Psi (National Programme Officer),Mia Fitriani M.Psi (Program Assistance III Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), dr. Yudha Chaerah (Migration Health Physician), Misbahuddin Azis, S.Kep.Ns, (Migration Health Nurse) and representative of IOM Makassar received by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs – Syahrul Said, Ph.D. and Vice Dean for Partnership, Research and Innovation – Dr. Takdir Tahir, and several FKep lecturers. At the meeting, the two parties agreed to cooperate with possible activities, including implementing the Health Cadre training package for refugees, performing relevant MBKM (Independent Learning) activities for FKep students, and the sit-in program in the vocational nursing class.
Andri Yuan, S.Psi stated that IOM always cooperates internationally to find solutions to refugee problems, including health problems that occur, by holding humanitarian programs while waiting for refugees to be placed in third countries. On this occasion, the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs stated that the collaboration with IOM strengthened the implementation of the education, research, and community development (Tri Dharma) of higher education and was a manifestation of FKep UNHAS’ concern to be a solution to the health problems of refugees.
