Hasanuddin University’s Faculty of Nursing lecturer and secretary of the Institute for Quality Assurance and Educational Development (LPMPP), Rini Rachmawaty, S.Kep., Ns., MN, PhD, was invited by the President of the Australia Indonesia Business Council (AIBC) to participate as a panellist in the prestigious event, the Australia Indonesia Business Council (AIBC) Conference, held at Mindil Beach Resort, Darwin, Australia, on November 2-4, 2022. Conference participants came from the business, tourism, arts and culture, agriculture, infrastructure development, energy, education, and health sectors.

Several important figures from Australia and Indonesia attended and gave remarks at the opening of the AIBC conference, including; 1) Minister for Trade and Tourism of Australian Federal Government, Senator The Hon Don Farrell; 2) Deputy Chief Minister of Northern Territory Government, Hon Nicole Manison MLA; 3) President of AIBC, Ms. Jennifer Matthews; 4) Indonesian Ambassador for Australia, H.E. Dr. Siswo Pramono: 5) Consulate of Indonesia in Darwin, Mr. Gulfan Afero; and 6) Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. M. Arsjad Rasjid P. M.

In the AIBC conference, the panelists who attended the panel discussion session were: 1) George Iwan Marantika – National President of Indonesia Australia Business Council, 2) Prof. Scott Bowman – Vice-Chancellor of Charles Darwin University. 3) Clarice Campbell, Lead Adviser, Skills IA-CEPA ECP Katalis, 4) Afifa Loutfie – Director of Capability & Special Projects, Swisstec Analytics Pty Ltd, and 5) Dr. Rini Rachmawaty – Associate Professor in Nursing Management, Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Hasanuddin.

In the panel session, Dr. Rini Rachmawaty presented findings and action plans from international collaborative research by La Trobe University (Prof. Lisa McKenna/Project Leader, Dr. Gulzar Malik, Dr. Jenny Davis, and Dr. Rachael Duncan), Hasanuddin University (Dr. Rini Rachmawaty, and Mr. Musmulyono, MHPA), Airlangga University (Dr. Ferry Efendi and Ms. Ika A.S., M. Kep), and Pelita Harapan University (Dr. Christine Sommers and Mr. Ian R. M. MPH), with the topic, “Comparative Assessment of Nursing Standards in Indonesia and Australia”. This international research was funded by the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement Economic Cooperation Program (IA-CEPA ECP) Catalyst. The purpose of this research is to provide an overview of the similarities, differences, and gaps in the nursing standards applied in Indonesia and Australia. Therefore, it will encourage both countries to develop strategies to harmonise the nursing standards in both countries so that Indonesian and Australian nurses have the opportunity to work in both countries.
