On Thursday, 12 February 2026, Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) welcomed a delegation from the China-Indonesia Cultural and Educational Exchange Association (CICEEA) at the Faculty of Medicine (FK). The welcome ceremony was led by the Secretary of the UNHAS, Prof. Sumbangan Baja, Ph.D., M.Phil, and focused on exploring future collaborations between the two institutions. The meeting was moderated by Andi Masyitha Irwan, Ph.D. and attended by a diverse group of UNHAS representatives, including drg. Irfan Sugianto, M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., Sp.RKG. (Faculty of Dentistry), Prof. dr. Agussalim Bukhari, M.Clin.Med., Ph.D., Sp.GK(K) (Vice Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, FK), Prof. dr. Firdaus Hamid, Ph.D., Sp.MK(K) (Vice Dean of Planning and Human Resources, FK), and Ahmad Yasir Baida, Ph.D. (Faculty of Engineering).

The primary aim of the visit was to establish a recruitment pipeline for UNHAS students and alumni to be hired by the numerous Chinese-invested companies currently operating and growing in Indonesia. High-level university officials joined the discussion to support this initiative, including Dr. Abdullah Sanusi, MBA (Director of Student Affairs) and Prof. Ida Leida Maria (Vice Dean of Faculty of Vocational Studies). The International Office (IO) was also heavily represented by Andi Masyitha Irwan, Ph.D. (Head of IO), Dra. Harniati (Head Division of Foreign Affairs), and Muhammad Ridwan, M.A. (IO Secretary), ensuring a comprehensive institutional approach to the partnership.
Representing CICEEA, Hu Huibin, PhD. and Susilo, M.Pd., D.Ed. Head of Jakarta State University (UNJ) International Office, the delegation noted that many Chinese companies, particularly those located in South Sulawesi, are in dire need of talented graduates from across the country. A major requirement highlighted during the meeting was Chinese language proficiency. In response, UNHAS officials showcased the university’s Mandarin and Chinese Culture Study Program, which specifically prepares students to meet these linguistic and professional standards.

To further strengthen these skills, UNHAS highlighted its active 2+2 program with Nanchang University, which allows students to spend two years at UNHAS and two years in China. This international academic path ensures that graduates are well-equipped for the “golden opportunities” presented by the growing industrial sector. The meeting concluded with a shared vision of success, aiming to empower UNHAS alumni to thrive within the international business landscape in the years to come.
