UNHAS and University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia Advance Partnership through MoU Extension Discussions
On Wednesday, 4 February, Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) welcomed two representatives from University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) including Dr. Zahrul Akmal bin Damin (Director, Institute for Social Transformation and Regional Development (TRANSFORM) and Associate Professor Dr. Fadillah binti Ismail (Lecturer, Faculty of Technology Management and Business) for a strategic visit aimed at extending the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and further strengthening the long-standing collaboration between the two universities.

The meeting was held on the 8th floor of the Rectorate Building and was led by Prof. Adi Maulana, (Vice Rector for Partnerships, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Business), alongside Dr. Zulkifli (Head of the Sub-Directorate of Foreign Partnership). Representatives from the International Office (IO) were also in attendance, including Khaeruddin, Ph.D., (IO Task Force), as well as Dra. Harniati (Head of Foreign Foreign Cooperation), Erizal Zhafran Muyazzar Edison, S.I.Kom, and Muhammad Anugerah, S.I.Kom, who support the university’s international engagement initiatives.
The discussion took place in a constructive and collegial atmosphere, reflecting the strong institutional relationship between UNHAS and UTHM. Both parties engaged in in-depth dialogue on sustaining existing collaborations while identifying new avenues for cooperation. Key topics included the continuation of academic exchanges, collaborative programs, and strategies to ensure the long-term impact and relevance of the partnership.

Following the initial session, which ran from 08.00 to 10.00 WITA, the UTHM delegation continued their visit with a follow-up meeting at the International Office meeting room. This session allowed for more focused and operational discussions and was attended by Andi Masyita Irwan, Ph.D., (Head of IO), IO Task Forces including Khaeruddin, Ph.D., Haniesk, M.Sc., Saaduddin, Ph.D., and Dra. Harniati. The extended discussions explored practical steps and potential collaborative activities that could be implemented under the renewed MoU framework.

The visit marked an important milestone in the ongoing partnership between UNHAS and UTHM, reaffirming both institutions’ shared commitment to strengthening international collaboration, expanding academic networks, and promoting meaningful global engagement. Through continued dialogue and cooperation, UNHAS and UTHM aim to enhance opportunities for faculty, staff, and students while contributing to the broader goals of internationalization in higher education.
