Hasanuddin University’s Faculty of Vocational Studies Expands International Collaboration with TECRS, Saudi Arabia

The Faculty of Vocational Studies at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) has developed an international collaboration with The Environmental Center of Remote Sensing (TECRS), Saudi Arabia, focusing on the fields of environment and remote sensing. The discussion and agreement took place on Wednesday, 5 November 2025.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Sultan H. AlSultan, Founder and CEO of The Environmental Center of Remote Sensing (TECRS), Saudi Arabia; Prof. Dr. Ida Leida M., SKM, MKM, MScPH — Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, who also oversees collaboration affairs at the Faculty of Vocational Studies; Ir. Agustina Abdullah, S.Pt, M.Si, Head of the Quality Assurance Group (GPM); Dr. Nurfadillah JS, S.Pd, Head of the Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (RS-GIS) Study Program; as well as several RS-GIS lecturers.

During the discussion, Prof. Ida emphasized that this collaboration is crucial for strengthening the academic capacity through initiatives such as guest lectures, industry internships, and collaborative research on topics including remote sensing, the application of artificial intelligence for land monitoring, and sustainable land management. The partnership aims at enhancing environmental ecosystems and supports data-driven environmental monitoring conducted both from Saudi Arabia and Indonesia—covering areas such as land-use change detection, disaster mitigation, and natural resource analysis.

In a separate statement, Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muh. Restu, MP, affirmed that this partnership demonstrates the Faculty’s tangible contribution to environmental development, remote sensing innovation, and human resource advancement. He added that the collaboration will equip professional instructors with valuable international experience and exposure.
