The Graduate Program of Multicultural Education, Hua-Shih College of Education, National Dong Hwa University (NDHU), Taiwan, hosted an academic event entitled “Border Pedagogy Forum and Workshop: From Classroom to Homeplace” on 13–14 September 2025. The forum was held at NDHU’s campus in Hualien and brought together academics, educators, students, and practitioners from various countries. Among the participants were representatives from the Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Hasanuddin University (UNHAS).

The keynote speakers included Prof. Chung Hsiu-Mei (National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan), Dr. Dwi Rosita Sari, M.Pd (Universitas PGRI Madiun, Indonesia), Prof. Duong Minh Thanh (Ho Chi Minh City University, Vietnam), and Khafifa Fuji Lestari, S.Pd., M.Pd (UNHAS, Indonesia). Their presentations addressed critical issues surrounding multicultural pedagogy, cross-cultural engagement, and the creation of academic communities that transcend borders.

On the first day, activities centred on academic dialogue at the Hua-Shih College of Education, exploring topics such as cross-cultural pedagogy, Glocal Field Engagement, and the building of cross-boundary communities among graduate students. The second day took place at Datong Theatre, Hualien, featuring a community discussion under the theme “A Communal Way of Life with Neighborly Love and Care.” This session highlighted the voices of local Taiwanese practitioners and was followed by a collaborative workshop on “Interweaving and Connecting of Cross Stitch,” facilitated by NDHU’s master’s and doctoral students.

Supported by the New Southbound Policy Project of the Ministry of Education, Taiwan and other partner institutions, the forum engaged 70 participants. The event successfully fostered global perspectives, strengthened academic networks, and deepened cross-cultural dialogue, embodying the spirit of communal learning and international collaboration.
