Saga University Students Join Short-Term Internship at the Faculty of Engineering
The Faculty of Engineering (FT), Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), officially welcomed a group of inbound mobility students from Saga University, Japan, as part of the Short-Term Internship and Summer Program running from 8 to 23 September 2025.
A total of eight students from different levels (undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral) and diverse study programs—such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Informatics Engineering—are participating in this program. They are accompanied by two professors: Prof. Oshikawa Hideo and Dr. Mishima Yuichiro from the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Saga University.
The official reception took place at the Dean’s Meeting Room, Faculty of Engineering UNHAS, located in the Centre of Technology (CoT) Building, Bontomarannu Campus, Gowa Regency, in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The presence of the Saga University delegation marks an important milestone in strengthening academic ties between the two institutions.
Over the course of more than two weeks, the students and professors will engage in a series of academic and enrichment activities. The agenda includes joint guest lectures with UNHAS and Saga University professors, collaborative workshops on engineering and cross-cultural topics, laboratory visits and research group discussions in the Departments of Civil, Environmental, and Informatics Engineering, as well as field trips to various infrastructure projects, environmental sites, and urban development areas in and around Makassar. The program will conclude with student presentations summarising their learning outcomes and experiences at UNHAS.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UNHAS, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, ST., MT., highlighted the significance of the program. “The presence of students and professors from Saga University is a concrete manifestation of our commitment to the internationalisation of higher education at the Faculty of Engineering UNHAS. Through this program, we aim to provide cross-cultural academic experiences while also strengthening joint research collaborations. This is in line with the spirit of ‘Kampus Berdampak’ (Impactful Campus) promoted by UNHAS,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, one of the accompanying professors from Saga University, Dr. Mishima Yuichiro, expressed his appreciation. “We are very grateful for the warm welcome extended by the Faculty of Engineering UNHAS. This program provides our students with the opportunity to learn directly from professors, laboratories, and the infrastructure context of Makassar and Gowa. We hope this collaboration will continue to grow in the form of joint research, faculty exchanges, and student mobility in the future,” he said.
This welcoming event marks an integral part of FT UNHAS’s internationalisation efforts while also supporting the celebration of UNHAS’s 69th Dies Natalis.
