Empowering Indonesian Health Professionals: EATS Indonesia and Unhas Review NCD Prevention Strategies
EATS Indonesia (Education and Training of Health Care Personnel for Sustainable Early Prevention of Non-Communicable Disease in Indonesia) aims to equip Indonesian healthcare professionals with essential knowledge and skills for the early prevention of non-communicable diseases. EATS Indonesia is a collaborative project coordinated by LMU Hospital Munich and funded by the Else Kroner Fresenius Foundation (EKFS), based in Bad Homburg, Germany. The consortium partners of EATS Indonesia include the University of Indonesia (UI), Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), the Indonesian Pediatric Society (IDAI), the Indonesian Obstetrics and Gynecology Association (POGI), and the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI). EATS Indonesia is supported by Indonesia’s Ministry of Health. The project runs for three years, starting in July 2022 and concluding in June 2025.
On Monday, October 28, 2024, EATS visited the Faculty of Medicine (FK), UNHAS to discuss the progress of the ongoing program, review strategies, discuss challenges, and plan for future initiatives. The event was attended by Vice Dean for Publications, Community Service, and International Affairs, Prof. Dr. dr. Rina Masadah, M.Phil., Sp.PA(K), DFM. Also in attendance were Prof. Dr. med. Dres. h.c. Berthold Koletzko from LMU Children’s Hospital Munich, who serves as the accountable person in charge of the EATS program, and Prof. Dr. dr. Aryono Hendarto, Sp.A(K), MPH, EATS Indonesia coordinator, along with the project team from UI. The EATS UNHAS team was represented by Dr. dr. Aidah Juliaty Alimuddin, Sp.A(K), Dr. dr. Conny Tanjung, Sp.A(K), and Dr. dr. Bahrul Fikri, M.Kes, Sp.A(K), Ph.D. Prof. Rina Masadah stated that this project is one of the key research and community service collaborations at FK UNHAS, significantly enhancing UNHAS’ reputation at the international level.
