The Faculty of Public Health and the International Office of Hasanuddin University held a sharing session with Nick Faulkner in Prof. Hardjoeno Hall, Postgraduate School, Wednesday (19/10). He is the head of the Chevening Program for Indonesia and Timor-Leste.

The event entitled “Introduction to Chevening Scholarship and Study in the UK” was officially opened by the Vice-Rector for Partnership, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Business (Prof. Adi Maulana), as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Public Health (Prof. Sukri Palutturi). In addition, Nick Faulkner was not alone in socializing the most prestigious scholarship program in the United Kingdom. Also present was an alumnus of the Chevening program, Arifah Nababan.

In his speech, Prof. Sukri Palutturi (Dean of FKM) conveyed the background of this activity. He said he wanted to inform students about scholarship opportunities to study in the UK, especially the Chevening scholarship program.

“We took this initiative to provide information to students and alumni about how to study in the UK, how scholarship opportunities are available, both from the British government, the Indonesian government, and from universities in the UK,” said Prof. Sukri Palutturi.

On the same occasion, Prof. Adi Maulana (Vice-Rector), before opening the event, also said that Unhas, especially in his field, would also be committed to expanding the reach of partnerships so that information on scholarship opportunities like this was more widely echoed.

Unhas will continue to strive to expand the network so that information and opportunities like this are wide open to our students. This of course aims to motivate our students to look for as many opportunities as possible to study abroad.

On the main schedule moderated by Nur Arifah, SKM, MA (FKM Lecturer), Nick Faulkner introduced and explained Chevening Scholarships in general. This Chevening Scholarship is a scholarship from the British government funded by the FCO which offers opportunities for young people around the world to continue their studies in the UK.

After that, Arifah Nababan, one of the alumni of this scholarship, was also given the opportunity to share her experience during the Chevening scholarship application process. “Well, this is probably the part that you and your friends should pay attention to that Chevening Scholarships are looking for candidates who are full of ambition and have the potential to become leaders,” according to Afifah.
