In collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), the Faculty of Dentistry of Universitas Airlangga (Unair) organized a Virtual International Symposium Series # 9 themed “Oral Lichen Planus: Diagnosis and Long Term Management”. The activity took place virtually through the Zoom Meeting application on Wednesday (05/19), starting at 14.00 WITA.
The speakers presented were Kununya Pimolbutr, DDS., Ph.D. (Departement of Oral Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand) dan Nis Okuma, D.D.S., M.Sc., M.D. (Departement of Oral Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand.
The symposium was officially opened by the Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation, and Partnership, Prof. dr. Muh. Nasrum Massi, Ph.D. In his remarks, he expressed his appreciation for holding this International forum discussing an interesting topic that aims to improve our capabilities in science and could be seen as an excellent opportunity to collaborate in producing research proposals or joint articles.
“In terms of escalating Unhas’s reputation in WCU scale, Unhas will always support any International activity. Currently, Unhas’s achievement in the international sphere is increasingly visible, as such the achievement recorded by the Impact Ranking SDGs 2021 which placed Unhas on the 79th position in the world and 10th in Asia.” Explained Prof. Nasrum.
After the official opening, it then continued with the presentation of the speakers. One of which was a material delivered by Kununya Pimolbutr, DDS, Ph.D. (Departement of Oral Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand) with a title of presentation “Oral Lichen Planus: Diagnosis and Long Term Management”.
On the same occasion, Kununya, Ph. D, through his presentation, explained a topic of Oral Lichen Planus (OLP) regarding the definition, diagnosis, and long-term management.
OLP is a chronic inflammation of a relatively common immunity with unknown cause. Usually, this condition attacks 0.5% to 4% of the adult population with a susceptible age ranging from 30 to 60 years.
The last material was presented by Nis Okuma, D.D.S., M.Sc., M.D. (Departement of Oral Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry under the subject “Diagnosis of Oral Lichen Planus Challange and Solution”. After the last speaker’s presentation, the activity continued with discussion and Q&A session from the participants. Approximately 200 participants attended this activity, and it ran smoothly until 16.00 WITA.
