Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), through The Student Affairs Division, has organized new student admission in a series of events. One of which is BALANCE (Basic Learning Skills, Character, and Creativity).
Balance is a character development program intended to introduce new students of the class of 2020 to campus life, encourage students’ creativity, and develop learning skills in higher education.
The event starts on September 12th, 2020, and is conducted every Saturday for a month. New students are divided into small groups. The groups will be guided by instructors and mentors who have special competencies to facilitate the Balance program.
Vice-Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs of Unhas, Prof. Dr. drg. A. Arsunan, M.Kes., explained that the Balance program this year is implemented virtually. Nevertheless, Unhas has prepared an adjusted method to ensure the transformation of new students’ knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour.
“Although it is conducted virtually, we still hope that there will be a positive transformation of values of our students before they start their campus life, where the environment is much different from senior high schools,” said Prof. Arsunan.
Prof. Arsunan expressed his appreciation to the committee, instructors, mentors, and new students who patiently followed the process.
“I fully understand the challenges that we face. Alhamdulillah, with dedication, we can complete this program despite the pandemic,” said Prof. Arsunan.
Balance Program this year was attended by 6.949 new students and some second-year students who did not accomplish the last year’s program.
