LEARN FROM JAPANESE NURSES

Visit the Okayama and St. Rehabilitation Hospital Mary Hospital, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan are two of several series of Research Meeting activities between the Nursing Science Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University (PSIK FK Unhas) and the School of Nursing, Okayama Perfectural University Japan. During the visit, the Unhas team was represented by Ns. Silvia Malasari, S.Kep., MN and Nurmaulid, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep had the opportunity to directly see health services, especially nursing services carried out in both hospitals.

In the activity that took place on 8-10 November 2016, an official as high as the head of nursing in the two hospitals invited the Unhas team to go around the hospital while introducing the nursing service patterns they carried out. From the explanation given, it can be concluded that the number of nurses owned by the hospital is quite small compared to the number of patients and the type of nursing services provided. This is not much different from the situation in Indonesia. However, it seems that the limited number of nurses is not an obstacle in providing comprehensive nursing care for the nurses there. The culture of hard work and discipline held by Japanese seems to contribute to a good work ethic of nurses. Caring behavior is very evident in the services provided by nurses in the two hospitals visited. Hopefully in the future nurses in Indonesia can provide comprehensive nursing services with a caring spirit as the Japanese nurse.
