Fostering Safety and Fellowship: UNHAS International Students Gather for Legal Briefing and Ramadan Iftar<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The International Office (IO) of Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) successfully conducted an Immigration and Police Regulation Dissemination on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) Hall. This essential session brought together nearly two hundred international students, alongside various faculty members and representatives from the Task Force Team for Internationalization. The event served as a proactive measure to ensure that the university’s growing international community remains well-informed of the legal frameworks and safety protocols governing their stay in Indonesia.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first keynote session featured Nano Sumarno, a representative from the Makassar Class 1 Immigration Office. His presentation provided a comprehensive overview of Indonesian immigration law, specifically tailored to the needs of the academic community. Students received detailed guidance on the various types of stay permits, the specific obligations required of international students, and the legal foundations of immigration. Crucially, the session also highlighted the potential sanctions for immigration violations, ensuring students understand how to maintain their legal status throughout their studies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Safety and public order were further addressed by AKBP Qurnia Ricky Yanitra, S.I.K, representing the South Sulawesi Police Department. This segment focused heavily on traffic ethics and regulations, covering everything from the primary causes of accidents to the nuances of Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE). Students were introduced to the “tri SIAP” principle\u2014readiness of the driver, the vehicle, and the commitment to obey rules\u2014as well as practical safety tips regarding blind spots and parking prohibitions. Moderated by Khaeruddin, Ph.D. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A session where students could clarify specific local regulations. Following the presentations, Andi Masyitha Irwan, Ph.D., Head of the International Office, formally thanked the guest speakers by presenting them with tokens of appreciation.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the afternoon progressed, the atmosphere shifted from formal instruction to communal inspiration with the arrival of the Rector of UNHAS, Prof. Jamaluddin Jompa. Addressing the assembly around 5 p.m., the Rector delivered an incredibly moving and encouraging message to the international student body. His oratorical style, described as being as passionate and profound as a sermon, resonated deeply with the audience.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event concluded on a warm, communal note as the time for Iftar approached. Marking the observance of the holy month of Ramadan, students and distinguished guests moved to the outdoor area to share a meal and drinks provided for the breaking of the fast.
