Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) will mobilize its experts to accelerate the development of the Sidenreng Rappang Regency (Sidrap) on numerous fields. The accelerations include developments in the areas of agriculture, animal husbandry, alternative energy supply, human resources development, and other development planning.
“Unhas is committed to providing its utmost attention when it comes to local developments, in particular for the Regency of Sidrap, known all these times as the barn of crops of South Sulawesi,” stated Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, M.A. before signing the partnership document with the Regent of Sidrap, H. Rusdi Masse, in the Sidrap Regency Office, Tuesday (30/8).
The signing of the partnership document in the fields of Higher Educational Institution’s ‘Tridarma’ (Education, Research, Community Service) coincided with the conduct of Community Service in commemoration of the Unhas Dies Natalis 60 on 10 September 2016.
Those that directly witnessed the signing of the partnership document include, Vice Rector I Prof. Dr. Junaidi, Head of the Academic Senate Unhas, Prof. Dr. M. Tahir Kasnawi, S.U., Director of Innovation and Research Development, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sudirman, Head of the Research and Community Service Institution (LP3M), Prof. Dr. Ir. La Ode Asrul, Deans of Unhas faculties, and other staff members. Meanwhile from the Sidrap Regency Government, besides the presence of the Sidrap Regent H. Rusi Masse and his wife, Fatmawati Rusdi, that happens to be a member of the Commission V DPR RI. Also present was the Regional Secretary, M. Ruslan, several Heads of Regional Working Units Sidrap, and other invitees.
Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu greeted positively the incentive of the Sidrap Regency Government in doubling the funds allocated for the partnership with Unhas. The Higher Educational Institution that she currently leads would provide the necessary expertise needed by Sidrap to accelerate its development.
Sidrap Regent, Rusdi Masse assessed that the presence of a university such as Unhas in Sidrap, a prominent university in the national scale, is surely an honor. Sidrap would never unchain the acceleration of its developments with the involvement of higher educational institutions.
“An insurmountable amount of Unhas alumni have come back and dedicated themselves to Sidrap, evolving being pioneers of development,” stated the Regent that not long ago was inaugurated as the Head of the Regional Board, National Democrat Party of South Sulawesi.
The DPRD member of the 2004-2007 period explained how as of now, an academic institution in the fields of agriculture and animal husbandry have been inaugurated and comprised of 474 students. This year, the educational institution would start graduating its graduates.
Rusdi Masse elaborates that in the year 2015, the economic figures of Sidrap have rose to 8,2%, surpassing the numbers of South Sulawesi. Development Index in Sidrap has reached 68,14%, ascended by 1,47% compared to last year, positioning the Regency to the 7th best in South Sulawesi. The poverty percentage in Sidrap is 5,8%, the lowest in South Sulawesi. Meanwhile, the sum of those unemployed reached 6,20%.
“The income per capita of Sidrap reached IDR 30 million, that coincidentally was achieved in the year 2015. We are optimistic that by 2018, the income per capita can extend to IDR 50 million,” stated the youngest out of his nine relatives, born in Sidrap on the 3rd of March 1973.
The son of the late Ambo masse and Hj. hasanah expressed his optimistic thought to achieve the income per capita target known to be IDR 50 million by 2018. On that particular momentum, it would be hoped that the rate of poverty in Sidrap might be erased.
“To engage in the partnership with Unhas, we have raised the funds by ten times,” stated this 170cm-70kg man with automotive sports hobbies.
The Community Services conducted by Unhas in Sidrap includes the socialization of different behavior counter-measures among teenagers, counseling & prevention of HIV/AIDS among the teenagers of Sidrap Regency, dental cures, as well as other counseling.
