The Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Sciences, Universitas Hasanuddin, Held a Webinar on Optimizing Human Resources Performance Through Research Innovation

The Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Sciences (Fakultas Ilmu Kelautan dan Perikanan/FIKP) Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) held a second series of webinars with the theme "Optimizing the Performance of Higher Education Human Resources through Research Innovation and Community Empowerment".

The activity, which was part of the 25th Anniversary of The Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Sciencesof Unhas, started at 9:00 am virtually through the zoom meeting application, on Wednesday (12/08).

Prof. Dr. Ocky Karna Radjasa, M.Sc (Director of Research and Community Service, Ministry of Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia), Prof. Dr. Ir. Hendarmawan, M.Sc (Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Padjadjaran University), and Prof. dr. Muh. Nasrum Massi, Ph.D (Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Universitas Hasanuddin) were invited as the speakers in this webinar.

The event was officially opened by the Dean of FIKP Unhas, Dr. Ir. St. Aisjah Farhum, M.Si. In her opening remark, she explained that the webinar can be a forum to discuss research collaboration to increase the usefulness of research results for the benefit of the people.

"This is the second series of webinar from the FIKP Unhas which is a part of the 25th anniversary. We hope it can help optimizing human resource ability through research collaboration, in which the output can be felt by the public," explained Dr. Aisjah.

After the opening, the event was then continued by listening to the presentation from the speakers.

Prof. Dr. Ocky Karna Radjasa, M.Sc. delivered topic related to "National Research and Innovation Policy". In his presentation, he discussed the opportunities and challenges of innovation research, national research priorities and efforts to strengthen research productivity and innovation

With science and technology, innovation and development are expected to be able to invent appropriate technology, to increase value-added and to downstream import substitution efforts and improve domestic component technology.

To focus on national research priorities for 2020-2024, Prof. Ocky said there are several topics that can be developed, such as food, energy, medical medicine, transportation, engineering products, defense and security, maritime, social science, and humanities.

"Innovation products are not always in the form of goods. For example, in the social and humanities field, changes in society in the era of the digital revolution or strengthening the Indonesian democracy are included as the outputs of research," added Prof. Ocky.

The presentation was then continued by other speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Hendarmawan, M.Sc on "Improving the Performance of Higher Education Human Resources in Research with a Multi-Disciplinary Approach for Innovation and Community Empowerment" and a topic from Prof. dr. Nasrum Massi, Ph.D., regarding the "Unhas Innovation Development Program".

After the presentation from the speakers, the activity was then continued with a discussion and question and answer session.

The activity was guided by Ir. Yudi Nurul Ihsan, S.Pi., M.Sc., (Dean of FIKP Unpad) as moderator and was attended by approximately 170 participants until the end of the event at 11.45 WITA. (* / Mir)
