The Faculty of Engineering (FT), Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) held the Opening of New Student Admissions and Character Development (Pembukaan Penerimaan dan Pengembangan Karakter Mahasiswa Baru/P2KMB) in 2020 with the theme of "Building Character and Competition to Achieve the Future". The activity took place at 07.30 WIB offline in the FT Unhas Academic Senate Meeting Room, Zoom Meeting, and live streaming on the FT Unhas youtube channel, on Tuesday (08/09).
The dean of FT Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Arsyad Thaha, MT., along with other the officials, Chair and Secretary of the Senate, Head and Secretary of the Department, and the entire FT academic community attended the Unhas activities as well as 13 new students as representatives of each department in FT who participated in offline activities.
In the opening of P2KMB, new students of FT Unhas presented the mosaic virtually involving 900 students. This mosaic was made as a form of their enthusiasm in participating in the P2KMB.
The vice-dean for Student and Alumni Affairs of FT Unhas, Mukti Ali, ST, MT, Ph.D, appreciated the innovations made by the new FT Unhas students. The tradition of making mosaic creations has actually been going on for several years. However, due to the pandemic situation, this year's creations were made virtually.
"We are proud of the spirit of new students. The pandemic situation did not drop off their spirits. It seems that they have received information about the making of mosaics which always took place in previous years. They agreed to express the happiness of being new students by making virtual mosaics," said Mukti.
Documentation of new student 2020 virtual mosaic, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Hasanuddin can be seen on the FT Unhas YouTube channel. This mosaic has also been spread on social media and received a lot of appreciation.
After the official opening, it was continued with the presentation from the speakers. The Vice-governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, ST., as the keynote speaker emphasized that new students always seek and gain knowledge, create products that can help society, always innovate by looking at existing issues and producing solutions to community problems.
The P2KMB FT Unhas activity lasts until Wednesday (09/09) with several agendas that have been arranged. (* / Ft / mir)
